Internet ‘n lifestyle
In the past we would all have our clan. Our in group, who acted as we do and shared our issues. Nowadays, we don’t have our clan, we have nearly the entire world, and our small identity to hang on to. This shift in technology, is a massive game changer for everyone. The internet blasts us with so much stimuli that a lot of us are just straight up bored. Internet also blasts us with so many solutions for our boredom, that it can be hard to know which ones to abide by.
The solitary walk
Society at large elevates extroversion, as a virtue. It is true, that without others, you can’t make a big level change in your life or others. But it could be said that the core of Emotional Intelligence, is the knowing of oneself, allowing you to control yourself. For me, that comes down to hours and hours spent introspecting, and dealing with my issues; when I do get into a social situation I’m able to go above and beyond because I have that extra capacity. Don’t let em shame you for being solitary.
I view some level of romantizising lonlieness, as necessary for a long-term Doomer lifestyle. There’s just too few opportunities for social connection. Although, on the flipside, personally I treasure my few friends a lot more than I feel most people do. “Think peers, not fears.” Like all things, the balance is found in the in-betweens. And, it is usually so, that most people treasure what is scarce, and dismiss what is abundant. In that way, this is a balanced and upholdable mentality, with the best of both!
Our shared culture: Memes n’ identity
I tend to really appreciate the idea of a multi cultural society. The more different, off center ideas one has the more of a wide and varied big picture overlook one has. Internet is a result of multi cultural views. We go on the internet and meet folks from Europe, South America, Canada and sort of have the co-mingle with those. So it does create a cultural melting pot, similar to what America used to be. And I know myself, I really appreciate that wide view.
Search and Find!
The big upside to our shared cultural meeting spot is the access to so much information. It’s the reason we have analysis paralysis. We end up mindless consumers.
Embrace the weird!
We’re all strange on the internets. It’s a place where misfits and outcasts gather. We all share the weirdness! We learn that our autism should be weaponized and our feels should be shared. There’s a special type of solidarity in a platform of weird people.
