Novelty; the spice of life

To be chained, or be tranquil?

You may think just being who you are should be enough to interest others, but the fact is there is a lot of things competing for that attention. There’s funny cat videos, educational content, books, video games and a lot of other people they could be giving their attention to. Not to say you are supposed to be like a dancing clown existing for the entertainment of others, but there’s a sense of integrity that comes from being someone who stands out.

Personally I fashion myself as a harmless introvert, someone who enjoys spending time in nature, and someone who relies on alone time to figure out my own stuff. I never get in the way of others, and always figure out a way to exist in a tranquil way.

There’s a lot of opportunity for self development that goes to waste. Most people get boxed into a certain type of life style and they either embrace it half-heartedly or spend their time fighting against other people’s perception of them. The key is to embrace it whole heartedly, and to be pro actively figuring out ways to develop your own box.

A jigzaw puzzle of untapped potential

You have a life given to you, and you are not completely free to decide who you are. You can, however, change your perception of who you are. You also have the ability to add nuance, and to transform who you are into more than the sum of it’s part. Something like, fishing. You can be a stupid macho alpha who goes fishing because that’s a masculine activity, or you can be a gentle introvert who enjoys spending time in nature, sort of as a meditation.

Think of all the aspects of your life you could be finessing. Do you have an impressive vocabulary? Is your dog particularly well trained? Do you have curiosity around your hobbies? There’s so much room for improvement and I would say most people don’t take advantage of the massive potential they have for personal growth. It’s kind of ridiculous.

Imagine if you just surrender to your expectations without being bitter or low-effort? Wouldn’t that make you exceptional? Think about it..

Get creative!
