How to be based!

Destroyed by facts and logic!

If you’re on the internet a lot you might be aware we value facts and logic.. like a lot! Rationality is what actually started our technological advancements, which is what created the internet in the first place! That might be the reason why, and we love to destroy feminists, or christians, or anyone we don’t like by using facts and logic.

Rational mindedness might be a virtue, but it’s definitely created big shifts in society. In our current age we just don’t think the same as we used to, and a big part of it is we can all communicate with eachother through the internet! With so many different opinions it’s hard to find your place to belong and have community!

The debater knows that if you want to communicate something you must understand both sides of the argument. You don’t ever get to convince someone when you’re left blindsided by their counter arguments. Which has created a lot of hostility and toxic or edgy banter on internet forums and chats.

Overall we must strive to be objective and at the same time, we cannot yet know the true nature of reality or even have a firm grasp of the current science as laymen, so ultimately we must rely on intuition when we are making a decision or a judgment of our lives.

Challenge your bias!

There’s so much information on the internet that we cannot ever hope to completely absorb it all. We make the decision to seek out the information we most desire, or what’s most appealing to us. We can only strive to be objective, but we all have our inherit bias and our individual perspective. There’s really no reason we can’t challenge ourselves to seek out information that challenges us. And it isn’t even that difficult since on the internet there’s a bit of everything.

If you’re anti psychiatry you might be dead set on hating the medications and maybe you read “Anatomy of an Epidemic,” or “Mad in America” by Robert Whitaker and you’re fully convinced the psychiatrist are evil non scientific torturers. That’s not the complete bigger picture and you must listen to opposing viewpoints to truly get the full understanding.

There’s so many views and so many opinions, too much information and we can never fully absorb it all. Still, we should occasionally challenge our bias and try to view reality a bit different so we can be more complete, and fully realized human beings.

“Everyone is a troll”

On the internet we all have edgy humor and personality and we cannot ever be free from provoking. There’s a lot of trolling done by everyone even if they don’t get called out as trolls, usually because they’ve got favor with the group. You can make the case, and some have, that everyone is a troll on the internet. We’re all seeking to make other people like us and react how we want them.

Trolling isn’t a virtue but it can be done for positive reasons. Usually a troll is someone who causes a lot of havoc and makes everything a bit awkward for everyone else. But a low level troll, or doing shitposting can be very favorable to your personality and make you look based and cool on the internet.

We’re all looking to be somebody. If we’re just somebody on the internet, that might seem lame, but the internet is world-wide, so you’re someone everyone can relate to. Everywhere.

Based like what?

Being based is mostly about fitting in on the internet. Those who act how you’re supposed to on the internet are based and those who act who you’re supposed to in real life are cool. There’s a lot of internet culture spilling into real life now that the internet is mainstream so it’s worth learning how to be that. We need to be open about our flaws. Pepe’s are all about showing those feels. Don’t pretend to be some edgy badass and just display your insecurities. Internet has always been a place for nerds to mingle.

You can get deep into the details, sometimes, or maybe just be way too excited about some really cool thing. Even if it’s just something you are excited about. There’s so much to learn and so much to do.

Be honest and be genuine. Good luck
